Family Support Nights are Returning to BFO Durham!
Some of our long-term members may remember our Family Support Nights or Care & Share Nights.
These events were open to our members & their families & friends & were designed to provide
education & support on a range of subjects connected to grief.
We now have the space available to offer this support program in-house & the first in the new series of Family Support Nights
will be “Step-Relationships” (i.e. Step-Mom, Step-Dad etc.) on Thursday June 20th
from 7.00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m. at the office. Refreshments will be available.
We look forward to seeing you at this event for discussions on the issues of step-relationships & grief.
The Family Support Night program will resume again in the Fall.
If you have any suggestions for topics you would like to be presented at a Family Support Night, please contact Jane Carter, at the office.

New support group for long term grief
It was suggested by several members that BFO Durham offer a closed support group for long term grief.
Our grief for the loss of our child does not have a time limit however many things can change as the years go by.
Do we still get the support from family and friends? Do people still remember? Are there problems at work?
How have we changed as the years passed? What new traditions or memorials have we created to honour of our child?
These are just some of the possible topics that could be discussed and shared in a long-term grief support group.
BFO Durham will be offering a 6-week closed group to provide support and address the issues surrounding long term grief.
The first group will begin this coming September.
It will be a mixed group of mums and dads who are 5yrs or more beyond their loss and have previously attended an initial support group.
If this first group is successful, and there is a demand from members, then this support will continue to be offered as needed.
We will also learn from this group, and make any changes needed to improve it if necessary.
If you would like to join this long-term grief group, please contact the office to register.
